The First Pair Was a Hamster
One afternoon, Atlas was at my desk while I designed custom shoes for a project. On a whim, I asked if he wanted to design his own pair. "Yes!" A few minutes later, the first Atlas Kick was born — an adorable recreation of our hamster, Peaches.
After that, he was hooked. "Dad, let's make shoes!" became a regular request, and we'd whip up whimsical creations together.

A Suit, and a Bigger Idea
After making shoes for lots of his friends, I asked Atlas if he'd like to start a real business and sell to kids everywhere. He was thrilled — so we sat down for our first "business meeting," where Atlas proudly wore a suit as the newest executive.
That day we talked about how selling shoes could give back to teachers and the kids they pour into — and a purpose was born alongside the brand.

Lifting Up Teachers
Atlas Kicks was sparked by a teacher — Atlas's Grandma. Teachers pour their time, their heart, and so often their own money into other people's kids every single day.
So every month, a share of $5 from every pair goes to one Teacher of the Month — nominated by their community and chosen by us. Support a teacher, and you support a whole classroom of kids.
A Blueprint for What Works
I grew up with a great example in my parents. When I became a Dad, I knew the value of setting one, too. Giving a child a blueprint of what works is an invaluable gift.
That's exactly what I hope Atlas Kicks becomes for Atlas — a guide, an asset, and a whole lot of fun, while putting smiles on kids' faces all over the world. One sole at a time.
